PvM is an acronym and refers to Player versus Monster. It is the gameplay mode to attain higher levels on a character, hunt for certain items or just whack pink blobs for the sheer fun of it. Not to be confused with MVP.
PvM is generally considered to be one half of the game experience, the other being Player versus Player content: PVP, WoE/WoE 2, and Battlegrounds.
