Although he will always ask for a type of weapon, all can be purchased at NPC shops.

4. After bringing Geschupenschte the items he's asking for, he'll refine the weapon. He'll want the result to be delivered Bismarc, a person standing near the airship in Hugel [168,183], Talpiz in Payon [214,79], or Baisulist [46, 164] in Geffen, Krongast [209, 80] in Lighthalzen, or Wickebine, in Morroc (27, 112). It appears that Geghupenshte imbued the weapon with Green Herbs, so Bismarc could cure his poison with it. He'll give the player a voucher which Geschupenschte is interested in.

5. After dropping off the weapon, return to Geschupenschte, and hand him the reciept, then head back to the Blacksmith Guild and talk to Altiregen again.

6. Altiregen wants the player to talk with Mitehmaeeuh, a female blacksmith in the back of the Blacksmith Guild. She'll have you do a quiz, but this time it's 5 questions (instead of 10 as in the quiz with Geschupenschte).

1) What ability is required to learn the Discount skill?
A) Level 3 Enlarge Weight

2) When you attack with Hammerfall, what status effect can you inflict on enemies?
A) Stun

3) How much Zeny is spent when attacking with the mastered Mammonite Skill? (Level 10)
A) 1000 Zeny

4) What is the discount rate when the Discount skill is mastered?
A) 24%

5) What is the maximum percent that you can overcharge items sold to NPC's after mastering the Overcharge skill?
A) 24%

or

1) Which of the following monsters drops Steel?
A) Skel Worker

2) Which of the following stones can be made from Red Bloods?
A) Flame Heart

3) Which of the following stones do you have the most of in your Kafra Storage?
A) You should know your storage for this one. @_@

4) In general, which of the following properties receives the most damages from Wind attribute weapon?
A) Water property

5) How many Iron Ore is required to make 1 Steel?
A) 5 - this is kind of a trick, but it is more likely a mistake in the translation. It should be "Iron" not "Iron Ore".

7. After the questions has been answered to her satisfaction, she will hand the player a Hammer of Blacksmith to give to Altiregen. After giving the hammer to Altiregen, he will change your job to Blacksmith. If you were Job Level 50 as a Merchant, you receive 30 Steel.

1. Whenever the player considers herself ready to become a Dancer, head to Comodo. Near the Kafra employee, there will be a male NPC named Bor Robin who will grant entrance into the Dancer Quest area.

2. Upon heading inside, talk to Aile to the left side of the stage. She will ask the player to bring one of the following set of items:

# 1 Sandals [0], 10 Black Hair, 20 Jellopy, 5 Yellow Potion, 2 Clam Shell
# 1 Shoes [0], 20 Sticky Mucus, 3 Jellopy, 5 Red Potion
# 1 Boots [0], 5 Earthworm Peeling, 10,000 zeny

*Note: The NPC will not actually take these items.

3. Once finished signing up, it's time to head to the right side of the stage and talk to Bijou to take the quiz.

4. The quiz involves a simple Q & A session. Getting 80% correct is required to pass this part of the exam. For reference, the following are the questions that are asked for this section of the exam. (The wording however, may differ)

* Question Set A
# What effect does Dance Lessons have? [Raises effects of dance skills]
# What is the dance called where you wear shoes that make a sound and dance a light rhythm? [Tapdance]
# Select the characteristic that a dancer doesn't have. [Wields a 2-handed sword]
# Which town has the most dancers? [Comodo]
# Who dances the most beautifully? [Bijou]
# What do dancers excel at more than other jobs? [Dancing]
# Who is the manager of the Comodo casino? [Moo]
# Which item can a dancer not equip? [Two-handed sword]
# Is this test boring? [No]
# Which of the following is not a Jazz musician? [(the correct answer is displayed upon scrolling down once, but regardless the answer is fairly obvious)]
* Question Set B
# What effect does the bard/dancer ensemble Classic Pluck have? [Nullifies all magic in 9x9 area]
# After dancing on the dance floor, how should you act to your dancing partner? [Say that you're still insufficient]
# If someone is dancing wrong, what should you do? [Point out the mistake]
# Where do you change to a dancer? [Comodo]
# How many caves are there in Comodo? [3]
# Which of the following is not a pet? [Argiope]
# Who is the best dancer? [Bijou]
# The Kafra service in Comodo is provided by which branch? [Kafra service western branch]
# What is my name? [Bijou]
# What does Lullaby do? [Area effect of sleep]
* Question Set C
# What does the dance Lady Luck do? [Increases critical rate]
# Which of the following is not a dance? [Lightning Bolt]
# Which of the following describes a dancer? [A person who dances]
# Which of the following is not typical of Commodo? [There are a lot of thieves]
# What is the place west of Faros Lighthouse Island called? [Comodo Beach] (Yes, it's Kokomo beach, but that's not an option, correct answer is Comodo Beach)
# Who dances the most beautifully? [Bijou]
# Which of the following jobs can a dancer combo with? [Bard]
# Which of the following is not a specialty of Comodo? [Shining stones]
# Who is the manager of the Commodo casino? [Moo]
# Who is the person in charge of the dancing school applications? [Aile]

5. After passing the quiz, Bijou will send the player to Dance on the stage. At this point one should make sure to equip a Bow and some arrows and then head behind the stage to meet another NPC with a "Waiting Room" chat window above her head. Entering the chatroom will put the player on queue for the trial.

6. The exam is a simple test of movement and quick responses. Hotkeying Arrow Shower or Double Strafe and Improve Concentration is suggested.

*Note: there's a poring at the end that has to be killed with a bow. Using Improve Concentration is optional, even though the NPC will ask for it.

The Dancing pattern is as follows.

# Back
# Front
# Left
# Right
# Center
# Pose (just remain on the tile)
# Improve Concentration
# Left
# Front
# Right (NOT Front, Right as iRO in-game dialogue says!)
# Pose (just remain on the tile)
# Left, Center, Right, Back
# Right
# Left, Center, Front, Back
# Left, Center, Front, Back
# Front
# Left
# Center
# Arrow Shower or Double Strafe

For those future dancers who are having problems with this part of the test: An effective way to pass this exam is to only perform the first and last steps for sequences with more than two steps, rather than hitting all the tiles. For example: instead of doing "Left Center Right Back" one simply goes from Left to Back.

7. Return to the NPC who gave the quiz for the job change to Dancer. She will reward you with either a Line [3] for Job 50, or a Rope [3] for any job level lower than 50.
Description
Root is the Monk's version of the Knight skill Counter Attack. Once Root is cast, it allows the caster to "catch" an enemy if they use a normal attack against the caster during the skill's Catch Time. If Root is successfully casted, then both the Monk and enemy are thrown into the "Root" status. During the Root status, only the caster may attack, by use of skills, and what skills they can use are determined by the level of Root they have learned (exception if the opponent is also a monk, see notes). Root only works on physical attacks and requires 1 Spirit Sphere per cast, regardless if an enemy is caught or not.

Skill Level || Skills || Catch Time || Duration
1 || None || .5 seconds || 20 seconds
2 || Throw Spirit Sphere || .7 seconds || 30 seconds
3 || Occult Impaction || .9 seconds || 40 seconds
4 || Raging Quadruple Blow || 1.1 seconds || 50 seconds
5 || Guillotine Fist || 1.3 seconds || 60 seconds

The Catch Time associated with Root is the amount of time you have to actually "catch" an enemy attack to launch the Root status.

Continuing as a Combo
Guillotine Fist only requires 4 Spirit Spheres to be cast in the Root status (since Root takes one Spirit Sphere to cast) but still requires the Fury state.

It is possible to continue the Raging Quadruple Blow to Raging Thrust if you select the enemy just after quadruple. This way, it is possible use the folowing combos:
* Root -> Raging Quadruple Blow -> Raging Thrust (Monk/Champion)
* Root -> Raging Quadruple Blow -> Raging Thrust -> Glacier Fist (Champion)
* Root -> Raging Quadruple Blow -> Raging Thrust -> Chain Crush Combo (Champion)
* Root -> Raging Quadruple Blow -> Raging Thrust -> Glacier Fist -> Chain Crush Combo (Champion)
* Root -> Raging Quadruple Blow -> Raging Thrust -> Chain Crush Combo -> Guillotine Fist (Champion, needs to have 1 Spirit Sphere at the end of Chain Crush Combo and be in Fury state)

Notes
* Root cannot catch players or monsters using skills.
* Since this skill is of the Monk discipline, if the user Roots an enemy Monk, then the enemy can also use skills while in Root; which skills are available is determined by each player's level of Root.
* During the Root status, players/monsters will retain all of their original characteristics, except the inability to move or attack. They can be damaged, attacked, use items or even change gears.
* Rooted players/monsters are also susceptible to effects like knockback (and it will not affect the Root status).
* Throw Spirit Sphere is weakened when used from Root, as Root itself consumes one spirit sphere.
* Root only works from melee range. It can be used against ranged attackers, but the monk using Root must be within melee range.

DrAzzy: /* Obtaining A Pet */

Basics
A cute pet is a tamed monster which will follow you throughout Rune-Midgard to keep you company and empty your wallet. They have no special skills, except when loyal (what action they do varies). There are several different types of Cute Pets with varying levels of difficulty to obtain and maintain (keep fed).

You can only change your pet's name ONCE using the 'Pet Status' (Alt+J) menu. So, please be careful when deciding your pet's name.

Obtaining A Pet
To get a pet, you will need to have a pet taming item and an . Incubators can be purchased from various pet NPCs in most major towns. Pet taming items must be obtained via monster drops or some special items/quests. Refer to the chart below to see what is needed for each pet.

To use a taming item, double click on it in the item window. When you see the monster you want to tame on the screen, hover the circle over the monster, and click. A slot machine will appear and you must click again to get a chance at taming the monster. If you fail, you lose the taming item and get no pet. If you succeed, you will use the taming item and receive a pet egg. The success rate is unaffected by stats. It is debated whether or not depleting the hp of the monster before using the taming item increases chances of success - no statistically significant tests have been posted (probably owing to the rarity of taming items). It is also debated whether using provoke on the monster reduces the rate. This topic has been debated a number of times on forums:
Small sample supporting the effect of low hp, and somewhat sample supporting provoke theory. List of success rates for taming different types of pets, of unknown accuracy.

Debate, with some tests supporting the effect of low hp.

Small sample supporting the effect of low hp.

Once you have obtained a pet egg, use a Pet Incubator (sold by pet NPC in major towns) to hatch it. To hatch the egg, click on the Incubator and a small menu will appear like the one you get when you use a magnifier. Click on the pet you wish to hatch and it will appear. It is a good idea to have food handy when you open the egg for the first time because the pet will be hungry.

Raising a Pet
The first thing that should be done is feeding the pet. If it's not fed quickly enough it will likely run away. It is also likely to run away if it is fed too much. When feeding a pet, open the status window for the pet. Right click on the pet and click on the option for status. A window will pop up where you will see the name of the pet, what level the pet is, if it is wearing any accessories, and whether or not it is hungry. To feed your pet, right-click on it and choose "Feed Pet". Your pet will then make an emote, letting you know it has eaten. It is possible to overfeed your pet. Only feed it once at a time and its intimacy will slowly rise. It should give you the Ok! emote. If you continue to feed it it will give the Hmmm or Pif emote. Feed it again and it will use the OMG! emote and die. You must control how much your pet eats.

Another note about feeding pets: is not the same as despite having identical icons. Pets will only eat Pet Food. Monster's Feed is only good for recovering your own HP.

When you are tired of your pet or have run out of money to keep it out, you can return it to egg status. Simply right click on the pet and choose the selection. You will need an incubator to hatch the pet again. You do not need to take accessories off the pet when you put it into its egg.

Mechanics
There are basically 5 different status to your pet's Hunger levels and Intimacy Levels.
Intimacy level||Hunger Level||Point System||Characteristics
Very Shy||Very Hungry||Less than 100||Ready to run far far away from a bad master
Shy||Hungry||100-250||Uses moody emotes such as /pif and /wah
Neutral||Neutral||250-599||Uses normal emotes such as /no1 and /ok
Cordial||Satisfied||600-899||Uses affectionate emotes such as /lv and /kis and talks when fed.
Loyal||Stuffed||900-1000||Talks often and uses affectionate emotes
*Each pet starts at different intimacy level ranging from 250-399. The higher level the monster the lower the beginning intimacy level.
*Each feeding will also give different incremental points depending on the pet
*All pets below Level 33 will have 10-15 points increase per feeding
*All pets above Level 33 will have 5 points per feeding
*Pet intimacy level goes down by 15 points each time you die.
*Pet intimacy does NOT go down when the pet is returned to egg shell.

Contrary to the claim of 5 intimacy lost upon returning pet to egg shell which had previously been reported here, it was found that this was not the case. Freshly caught spore, fed once (to move intimacy from shy to neutral) and then returned to egg and re-summoned 12 times in a row did not return to shy. In light of the contradiction between experimental tests and the above description of the intimacy system, this section should be taken with a grain of salt, as it may not reflect the actual intimacy mechanics on iRO.

Pet Types

Intimacy level||Hunger Level||Point System||Characteristics

Once you have obtained a pet egg, use a Pet Incubator (sold by pet NPC in major towns) to hatch it. To hatch the egg, click on the Incubator and a small menu will appear like the one you get when you use a magnifier. Click on the pet you wish to hatch and it will appear. It is a good idea to have food handy when you open the egg for the first time because the pet will be hungry.
Raising a Pet
The first thing that should be done is feeding the pet. If it's not fed quickly enough it will likely run away. It is also likely to run away if it is fed too much.

Small sample supporting the effect of low hp, and larger sample supporting provoke theory.
Player claims bRO GM said that low hp has an effect, inconclusive results.

Intimacy level||Hunger Level||Point System||Characteristics
*Pet intimacy level goes down by 5 points when you put it into its egg.

1. Head to the Sage Academy in Juno.

2. Talk to Metheus Sylphe, and pay 1,285,000 Zeny.

3. Read The Book of Ymir.

4. Head south from that spot to the very bottom of the map, and turn left.

5. Go down the stairs and walk through the maze path. When you reach the rooms with three and four different paths, pick portals at random until you enter the room with three entrances from the bottom left portal. Take the portal to the bottom right which results in entering a new spiral room.

6. Head to the center of the spiral, making sure not to enter the portals along the side and enter the portal there.

7. Once in the room with the machine, you'll have to click on the NPC bubble at the very bottom of it. It may be hard to get to, so find a spot within reach of the machine. Best may be from the bottom left if you adjust the camera angle if possible.

8. After you've been warped to Valhalla, walk north as far as you can, and talk to the Valkryie.

9. If you've got no zeny, no weight, and no unallocated skill points on your character, you'll be reborn into a High Novice, and warped to the town of your original first class:

*Swordman - Izlude
*Mage - Geffen
*Archer - Payon
*Merchant - Alberta
*Acolyte - Prontera, behind the church
*Thief - Morroc

Turning High Novice:

*Your level will be reset to 1/1
*All your stats will be reset to 1
*You will be given 100 stat points to allocate freely without the hexagon's restrictions that regular novices get upon new character creation
*You lose all your skills
*You'll be left with both novice quest skills and the basic skills
*You will be given a Knife [4] and a Cotton Shirt [1], a homage to the Knife [3] and Cotton Shirt all players get when a character is first created.

Congratulations! You are free to begin the journey to your transcendent class!
